THE NATIONAL GALLERY DINING ROOMS

National Gallery 3 Furniture

The National Dining Rooms (National Gallery), located in the Sainsbury’s Wing, is one of the many ventures of restaurateur Oliver Peyton and is designed by the renowned David Collins Studio. The project was challenging on several levels, varying from the tight schedule, an eight week turnaround, as well as issues involving a period design chair which required bringing up to date.

All in all, a total of 140 chairs and 27 metres of bespoke banquette seating finished in oak and upholstered in classic green leather were produced for the Gallery’s diners. Visitors can eat at some of the 50 tables created in solid oak, a timber which never seems to go out of fashion and still sits firmly as a favourite for most designers.

Restaurateur extraordinaire, Oliver Peyton was delighted with our work stating “It’s great and reassuring to see the craft of furniture making is still alive in the UK and stronger than ever”.
