ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Following our successful furnishing of the Michelin-starred Jamavar, we were invited by interior designers Fabled Studio to provide bespoke furniture designed by the Studio for Bombay Bustle – the exciting new restaurant from Samyukta Nair and Rohit Ghai, co-founder and executive chef at Jamavar.
The beautifully designed restaurant has three distinct areas which are split over two levels. The dining room on the ground floor features an area inspired by an old first-class Bombay railway coach. We provided the soft pale green leather booth seating which features: patterned fabric backs; oak show wood frames which have been stained and lacquered; and low top dividing screens with reeded glass infills.
The second room on the ground floor has a distinct art deco feel with pink walls and cut glass lights – complemented by our bespoke soft green leather banquettes with fluted back and patterned end panels.
The lower ground floor has been inspired by the retiring rooms seen at Indian railway stations and is enveloped with brilliant-cut glass screens and a timber-paneled ceiling. Here, we provided the large sections of buttoned banquettes in a soft deep pink leather with show wood frames and antiqued brass feet, along with the bespoke beech dining chairs with leather seat pads and contrasting patterned fabric backs.
Our tables, found throughout the restaurant, were developed with Fabled studio and feature Marmoleum table tops finished with aluminum edges. Each table is marked with the legendary alpha-numeric markings, produced by the Nutan Mumbai Tiffin Box Suppliers Association.
Once the bespoke furniture was completed in our workshops, our expert team fitted the pieces in line with the restaurant’s tight schedule – ready for its opening at the end of November. The finished restaurant is already receiving rave reviews for its delicious food and bold interior design; we were once again delighted to be involved in another project with Fabled Studio.
